Candid Wedding: How To Capture The Unexpected Photos Of Your Nuptials
Weddings are such serious, formal events. At least, that is what your wedding photographer will capture in all of your photos. Maybe there will be a candid snapshot here and there, but most of the pictures will be very formally posed. If you want both a formal set and a fun, candid set of photos, you have a few options. In addition to hiring a formal wedding photographer, you can do one (or more!) of the following.
Wedding Photo Booth Event Rentals
With this option, you rent an event photo booth from a business that does photo booth rentals for all kinds of occasions. Everyone in the wedding party and all of your guests are able to sidle into the booth, take some silly and funny snapshots, and leave behind the photo strips for you to enjoy later. You can choose to keep the wedding photo booth at your venue for the whole night, or just a couple of hours.
A Second Photographer
Wedding photographers are already rather pricey, but if you can squeeze it into your wedding budget, you can hire a second wedding photographer for just the candid photos. This photographer will follow everyone around taking random, funny photos. Then you can choose which of these photos you want to keep for your less serious wedding memories book.
Disposable Cameras
It was not too long ago where this option was a regular thing at weddings. You buy about a dozen disposable 35mm cameras and pass them around for everyone at the wedding to take pictures of people at the tables, doing funny things, dancing silly, etc.. Once you have all of the film developed, you have your full set of candid wedding photos.
Stills from Your Wedding Video
If you are hiring a videographer for your wedding, you can get "stills" made from the video footage. The videographer can select candid moments from the video and turn them into photos through special editing software. You can even sit with your videographer after the wedding and view the footage during the editing process to select moments you would like as stills. The videographer will make note of these moments and where they are located on the film before making the final cuts and edits to your wedding video. If you are not hiring a videographer, consider one of the previous options above to capture your candid wedding pictures for all time.
